Caring for someone at the end of life takes a truly unique and compassionate person. At Alternative Hospice, volunteers play an extremely important role in the hospice journey. Whether you choose to work directly with patients and families or volunteer in other ways, you can make a difference in someone’s life. Opportunities are as individual as you are, and we welcome volunteers from all walks of life.

To ensure that all volunteers are equipped to work with the dying, Alternative Hospice requires an extensive orientation, as well routine background checks. It is important that volunteers understand the history of hospice and are aware of the specific ways that Alternative Hospice works to serve the community. Depending on area of service, additional training may be available or necessary.
