When is the right time to ask about hospice?

With massage therapy, a certified professional manipulates, presses, or rubs the soft tissues of the body, such as the skin, muscles, tendons, and ligaments to help relieve stress and pain.

Bodywork may involve some forms of massage therapy techniques, but there are also other forms of touch therapy that could be used. This may include chiropractic care or reflexology, or lighter-touch techniques such as integrative body psychotherapy or craniosacral therapy. There are also popular bodywork methods that do not involve touch, including breathwork and yoga.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy, also known as essential oil therapy, utilizes natural oils extracted from plants for a variety of health benefits, including relief of anxiety and depression, improved quality of life, and improved sleep. The soothing scents stimulate smell receptors to send messages via the nervous system to the limbic system in the brain, which is responsible for controlling emotions. Oils can be inhaled directly or indirectly, or applied directly on the skin with massage therapy, or as an addition to lotions or bath salts.

Energy Work

Using energy work can help restore and realign the subtle vibrations of the body, balancing physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Reiki is the most popular form of energy work, which helps guide a person to bring healing and balance back into awareness, unblocking the chakras or energy systems up and down the spine.

Vibration Therapy

Whole-body or localized vibration therapy utilizes vibrations that are transmitted into the body with a platform or hand-held device, causing the muscles to contract and relax. Some types may encourage the body to produce osteoblasts, which are cells that help produce bone. This form of therapy may help increase bone density and muscle mass, improve circulation, reduce pain, and alleviate stress.

Guided Visualization and Imagery

The practice of guided visualization and imagery, also known as guided meditation, encourages individuals to imagine themselves in a particular state, such as simply relaxing or participating in positive changes or actions. Using these techniques may help reduce anxiety, improve self-confidence, and cope with difficult situations more effectively.
